Updated 4 November 2026

Vanilla Realms (join.vanillarealms.com) is a friendly semi-vanilla Minecraft survival SMP for Java and Bedrock, with crossplay in one world. Land claims protect your builds, PvP stays off unless you turn it on, trading runs on emeralds instead of server money, and 20 free ranks come from voting and playing. It is Minecraft as you know it, with a light layer of progression. Free to play, no whitelist, and around 51 players online on average.

Vanilla Realms is an independent community server. It is not Minecraft Realms, Mojang's hosting service.

Quick facts

Is Vanilla Realms right for you?

Best for

Players who want vanilla survival with their builds protected, a real emerald economy, and friends on Java and Bedrock in one world. A new season of crate gear arrives every two months for those who want something to chase.

Not for

Players who want open PvP and raiding, or a pure vanilla server with no ranks or crates.

Downside, stated plainly

Emerald income is capped at 50 per four hours, so getting rich is slow by design, and the paid ranks include keep inventory.

Java players join at join.vanillarealms.com. Bedrock players use join.vanillarealms.com with port 19132. Both editions share one world.

Is Vanilla Realms the same as Minecraft Realms?

No. Vanilla Realms is an independent community survival server run by Thunder Studios. Minecraft Realms is Mojang's paid private-world hosting. You join Vanilla Realms like any public server, with no subscription.

Does Vanilla Realms reset?

A new crate season starts every two months, on the first Saturday at 1 PM Central. Seasons reset currencies and gear stats, while your crate profile and prestige carry over. The resource world resets every 7 days so ores stay fresh.

Is PvP on in Vanilla Realms?

PvP is off by default. Type /pvp to opt in, or use /arena and /duel. Claims protect builds from griefing.

Are there land claims?

Yes. GriefPrevention claims protect your builds, so nothing can be griefed. You earn claim blocks through ranks, and the store sells extra blocks.

Do I need to apply or get whitelisted?

No. Vanilla Realms is a public server with no whitelist and no application. Add join.vanillarealms.com and join.

Is Vanilla Realms pay to win?

It is free to play with 20 ranks earned by voting. The store sells four paid ranks, crate keys and claim blocks; the Parrot rank and above include keep inventory. No gear and no currency are sold.

How does the economy work?

There is no server money. Emeralds from villager trading are the currency, capped at 50 per four hours so prices stay stable. Trade with NPC traders, player chest shops and player warps.

What are the Vanilla Realms ranks?

Twenty free ranks run from Newbie to Cartographer at 1,000 votes, adding homes and perks. Five Elite ranks are bought with vanilla blocks. Four paid ranks exist in the store.

An opt-in PvE world with three gear traders and an emerald mine that resets every 45 minutes. It is the high-end challenge for players who want more than the survival world.

Can I play Vanilla Realms on Bedrock or console?
